Christmas in Montana

I spent Christmas in Montana at Kent's grandparent's ranch. It was a white Christmas, yet surprisingly so much fun. We hiked, went ice skating on the pond, played ice hockey, went horse back riding, build a snow fort and so much more. It was an amazing Christmas with his wonderful family.

Roomate Riots

I live with a group of great girls, my best friends. They are a riot, so fun to be around. How can I describe the greatness of living with them. There is nothing like it. They lighten my life, and help help me carry my burdens. It is like the other day when I got home from work; they pounced on me, and tied me up with some cords. :) It was so fun. After escaping they tied me to them telling me I could not move to AZ. They are so random and crazy fun. They tape funny notes to my ceiling. A couple of nights ago as I was getting into bed I found glow sticks all under my covers Holly had secretly placed there. After becoming engaged Chante decorated my room all fun for me. We dance, laugh, wrestle, serve each other, sing, get into mischief and so much more together. We often have deep conversations at nights about life. My roommates are examples to me and encourage me to be better. When I go through hard times they dry my tears. They know me better then almost anyone. They are amazing. They are my friends. They are my family.

A Thanksgiving break hike

Kent drove up to Provo for the Thanksgiving break. It was wonderful to have him hear. Brigham, Kent and I hiked up in Provo Canyon where it is getting snowy and icy.

Kent's sister Maria, Brigham, Kent and I and some other friends also hiked up to the Y during the break. We had Thanksgiving dinner at the Delory home and played a game of football outside after the turkey dinner.

Engaged

Kent proposed to me on Friday, Nov. 14th, while I was out in Arizona for a visit. During our hike on Camel Back Mountain , we went off the trail a little ways to go bouldering on some rocks when he pulled from his backpack some speakers, put on some music and asked me to dance. I thought it a bit strange as we were about to climb some rocks but I thought, sounds fun and romantic. After the dance he got on one knee and asked me to marry him right as the sun was setting in the Arizona sky. I said yes. Kent is wonderful and amazing and I love him more than anything. It is crazy to think that I am engaged. I now have a finace! Interesting side note. I have a gimpy finger, it is my ring finger, I torn all the ligaments in it a few months ago so it is big and swollen and has a contracture. If you look in this pic you can see my finger brace. Of all fingers of all times! So the ring thing might be a little challenge.
This picture is taken on the top of Camel Back Mountain just shortly before he proposed to me.

Life is exciting and will just continue to get more exciting. I am happy to be engaged to the most amazing man ever.

A November Saturday

This Saturday was the last BYU homegame and it was quite fun. My friends and I all went, shouted, cheered for the team, and sang the fight song at every touchdown. It was great.

Later in the day my roommates and I had a blast playing in the leaves all over campus!

Day Light Savings Time Again

This time of the year always confused me, switching the clocks back and all. Why do we mess with our minds like this? The Arizonans are smart.

So I figured my cell phone would change automatically at 2:00am as it always changes when I switch time zones. Having to work early tomorrow, and my alarm clock being on my phone, I figured I would be OK as I set my phone alarm for 4:45am.

Bright and early it went off and I got up. Yet comparing my phone clock to another clock in the hall that read 3:45 I realized my phone had not switched over. Yea, one more hour to sleep!!! So right as I drifted off to sleep again my phone rings waking me up. It was work calling me to putting me on call. Now I was really confused because work never will call until 5:00am.

What time is it really?!

Reno

I went to Reno last weekend to meet Kent's family. What a fun trip it was! He has the most amazing family and I had a wonderful time. We carved pumpkins with his little brother, went canoeing, hiked Mt. Rose, played, ate wonderful food and enjoyed one another's company.

It was one of those days that come with the job...

I found this Poem and it rang so true; every nurse out there will relate to it! Sometimes there are those crazy long days where it is impossible to meet all the demands of the job and it is only the priorities that can be met as much as you try. You are still in the hosptial 3 hours after your 12 hour shift should have been over, finishing up charting, still answering call lights, tired, hungry, and emotionally, physically, and mentally worn to the bone.

I'm Sorry In Advance

I'm sorry in advance
Your bed's not made today
But I have a patient here
Whose chest pain won't go away.

I'm sorry in advance
I didn't get to comb your mother's hair
I've a patient with emphysema
She's scared, she can't get air.

I'm sorry in advance
Your fathers still in pain
I'm trying to reach his doctor
I'll have to try again

I'm sorry in advance
Your dressings aren't yet done
But a patient has just passed away,
I offered solace to his son.

I'm sorry in advance
I'm not cheery as a bird
I've worked 12 hours, my feet ache
I asked for help, but no one heard.

I'm sorry in advance
I've only two hands and two feet
I'm trying to care for you, patient
Your needs, I want to meet.

My 12 hours now are 16,
No replacement could be found
My aching feet they cry out
My head begins to pound

If I could sit down for a minute
And maybe grab a bite
Phone my family to say I love them
And I'll be late again tonight.

I'm sorry in advance
I didn't do all that must be done
If I worked any faster
I'd soon begin to run.

When I do get to hold your hand
Or wipe your furrowed brow
Please understand, dear patient
I care for you and how.

Double date with my cousin

My cousin Keirstin and I went on a double date down in Arizona to In & Out and to a play called Blackbeard. Yum Yum!

Superstition Mountains

I just made a trip out to Arizona! Kent and I went on a hike through the desert of the Superstition Mountains; there is a legend of lost gold in these mountains. On our trek the cactus almost ate us alive and at the end of the trip we discovered what the real gold was....Water! It was quite the fun hot hike. We made home made ice cream when we got back to Grandma's house.

It was the BYU vs UCLA game. Excitement in the air, cannons shoots, cheerleaders running with the flag, touchdowns, interceptions, fans cheering, ROTC doing push-ups, the fight song being sung. We won the Game!!!

Antelope Island

We ate lunch with a Bison, walked across the Salt Lake to a dirty little rock, and biked the hot dusty trails of the Island that Saturday afternoon. The bike rack fell off the car on the way home. It was us together under the beautiful sun.

Zion's Subway

This was the most amazing hike I have ever done. About 10 miles through rivers, down cliffs, over rocks, and under waterfalls. There were frogs, snakes, red rock, cactus' and
amazing beauty. The best part was my family and friends.
